In 2006, I tore my ACL, MCL, and meniscus ski racing in a NASTAR course. A short time after the accident, the ACL was reconstructed and the meniscus was repaired. Unfortunately, I developed arthrofibrosis, a debilitating complication. I did a copious amount of research and saw doctors all over the country. It took 4 surgeries, 8 years of doing PT for many hours a day and following an anti-inflammatory diet, but I’m almost fully recovered. As soon as I was healthy, I became a ski instructor fulfilling a lifelong dream. Most patients do not recover from arthrofibrosis. I’m one of the few success stories. I can help you avoid such complications or help you recover from them. I can provide information and guidance on the following topics:
- Strategies for reducing knee pain
- How to conservatively treat your knee injury
- When to have knee surgery
- How to find the right doctor
- Pre-op and post-op physical therapy protocols
- The use of medical devices such as CPMs, cryotherapy machines, range of motion devices and braces
