In Sep. 2015, CAMAC worked with our partner Chinese Musicians’ Association to bring Hollywood’s go-to piano master Randy Kerber to China to play a sold-out solo concert at the Yangtze Music Festival. As China’s premiere piano music festival, YMF brings together more than 500 top pianists from around the world to the city of Yichang for 7 days (and nights) of non-stop concerts and competitions right by the Yangtze River. Dozens of national and international Pop, Rock, Jazz and World music acts also take the stage during the festival at various venues and indulge the people of Yichang in a feast of sounds.
Randy has worked on over 800 movies and was nominated for an Oscar for The Color Purple. He was also nominated for a Grammy for his arrangement of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” for Barbra Streisand and was the Musical Director and Arranger for the Barbra’s HBO Special, “One Voice”. He played keyboards on Man in the Mirror for Michael Jackson including the iconic opening synthesizer sound which starts the song. He played keyboards on Tears in Heaven for Eric Clapton.
He worked with and played on many movies for John Williams including, but not limited to: Angela’s Ashes (piano solos), The Adventures of Tintin, The Terminal, JFK, Nixon, Home Alone (celeste solos), Harry Potter I, II, & III (celeste solos), Star Wars episodes 4,5, & 6 and currently recording episode 7, The Book Thief (piano solos), Lincoln (piano solos).
He played and orchestrated for James Horner for the following films: Titanic, A Beautiful Mind, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Mask of Zorro, Flightplan, Troy, Windtalkers, The New World.
He played piano on Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Alice in Wonderland, Toy Story 1-3, Monsters Inc., A Bug’s Life, Parenthood, Awakenings, Forrest Gump (piano solos), Back to the Future 1-3, Father of the Bride 1-3, Contact, Flight, Death Becomes Her, etc.
