Every June 5th of each year we celebrate World Environment Day! The purpose of this day is to raise awareness about nature and show the importance of protecting our world.
Around the world people are finding ways to help, by picking up trash, planting trees, cleaning up the oceans, recycling, and so many other actions that can seem small when done by only one person but create a huge impact when combining everyone together.
This year, the theme for this day is connecting people with nature. We want to encourage people to go outdoors, appreciate the beauty of our planet and show the importance of preserving our nature for future generations. We want people to not just look at nature, but feel it. Go to the closest park, beach, lake, mountain and immerse yourself! Feel the water, touch the sand, smell the flowers, listen to the birds, look at the sky … get inspired!
Our Sawabona team has chosen a way to help our environment, we are cleaning up the ocean! By collaborating with Its Coastal Consciousness, we will be helping to clean up one mile of ocean at a time!
8 million metric tons of trash enters the sea from land every year. The equivalent of 5 plastic bags filled with trash for every foot of coastline around the world. ItsCoastal has just announced their newest initiative, the Coastal Consciousness project to help aid in cleaning our oceans. This is ItsCoastal’s way of celebrating their mission on a daily basis and we are happy to join them in helping preserve the beautiful world we live in!
ItsCoastal will be cleaning a mile at a time with the Ocean Cleanup project in hopes to help recover our world’s oceans. Join the ItsCoastal community and help us clean the oceans one mile at a time!
