EPEW – Equal Pay For Equal Work

Women earn, on average, only 80 cents for every dollar paid to men. Yes, still.

Women have made a ton of progress in education and in the labor force—YAY! But we are still paid less than men for doing the same job in nearly every sector of work—WHAT? And the “20% pay gap” is only half the picture. For women of color, the wage gap is much, much wider.

Take that hot ball of rage and turn that GRRRR into a force for GOOD by sending a letter to Congress to support the Paycheck Fairness Act!

The Paycheck Fairness Act would deter wage discrimination by updating and strengthening the Equal Pay Act, including by barring retaliation against workers who disclose their own wages to co-workers— such as firing employees for talking about their salaries. And new this year, the bill would also prohibit employers from seeking a job applicant’s salary history so that pay discrimination will no longer follow women and people of color from job to job.

We need to end pay discrimination now. Hard-working women can’t wait for Equal Pay.
