Harvey Disaster Relief Mission

Sawabona Association is uniting forces to help Houston recover from the Hurricane Harvey disaster! As thousands of people have been displaced, it is estimated that 50,000+ people are living in shelters. Our team decided to pack its bags and head to Houston on a mission to provide donations and services to the victims affected by this environmental disaster.

Cleaning up mountains of trash and rebuilding homes, could take years since most of the citizens belongings are now contaminated with floodwater and mold. Rolling waters on the streets have been replaced by piles of garbage placed on the curbs. Our team will be joining The Cajun Army in their mission to gut homes for free starting with the elderly, disabled, veterans, single women with children and the list goes on.

If you would like to volunteer please email us with your availability. All volunteers and help are welcome as we unite to rebuild Houston!

If you can’t volunteer, please take a look at the “WISH LIST” items. These donations will support our volunteers by providing supplies, tools and PP gear needed to clean up and gutting of flooded homes.

Can’t volunteer or donate? You can still help! Send a message to President Trump, Congressional and State representatives demanding strong action on climate solutions. Ask our leaders to address the recurring problems of flooding from record storms and sea level rise.

In the days and weeks ahead, we will call on members and supporters like you to build the pressure on our political leaders to abandon policies that are making natural disasters like Hurricane Harvey even worse, and to win new, smarter policies that will better protect all Americans and every person on this planet.
