A native of the infamous southside of Chicago, kweisi gharreau is a true triple threat. kweisi is a poet and self-published author. His literature was originally inspired by the murder of his younger brother. He wrote, met and came to forgive his brother's killer. His self-published book of poetry entitled "n'nocent RAGE" has gained critical acclaim. Also, kweisi founded The Innocent Rage foundation to help education, inspire and inform youth about the importance of using art to overcome adversity. Kweisi makes regular appearances at elementary schools, high schools, group homes and colleges across the country.
kweisi studied and performed his literature in Oxford, England for one year. He has been deemed Chicago's premier poet by the First Lady of Chicago, was the spoken word artist award recipient in 2000 and was voted best poet in Chicago by the readers of Spotlight Entertainment magazine in 1999. He penned the unofficial Chicago Bulls street anthem "the bullz" in 1997 becoming the #1 song on 107.5FM WGCI radio station. He created and produced a spoken word segment for WGCI which aired for six-years introducing spoken word to mainstream Chicago in 1993.
kweisi currently resides in Los Angeles and is pursuing his aspiration of film and television producing. kweisi produced Kanye West's Congratulatory Videography for WGCI and the Chicago Mayor's Office when Kanye received the key to the city in February 2005. He produced an independent film which won two film festival awards. He has produced television, radio and web-i-sode commercials, several music videos, two web-i-sode comedy sketches for Daman Wayans and a five-minute short as a submission for Fox's On The Lot competition. He has worked as an assistant to the director for BET's '06 award promos featuring Daman Wayans and the BET "Be Inspired" segments featuring Fantasia, Omarion, Cuba Gooding, Jr. Mario, Chris Brown and Wood Harris.
kweisi is also an on-camera personality. He has worked movie premieres, red carpet events and other special occasions as a Hollywood correspondent interviewing some of Hollywood's finest stars from Will Smith, Monique, Travis Barker, and Bow Wow, to Cedric Yarbrough, Mario, Akon and Mark Bunin just to name a few.
