\n\tA lot rests on the nine pairs of shoulders that make up TWICE<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tAs one of K-pop\u2019s leading girl groups, the members have worked for years to juggle their personal lives, full-band activities and, in the case of a few of them, solo careers \u2014 all of which Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu opened up about in their new Teen Vogue <\/a><\/em>cover.<\/p>\n

\n\tNamed one of the publication\u2019s top girl bands<\/a> of all time, TWICE got candid in the cover story published Tuesday (May 21) about finding balance between stardom and mental health in the years since their 2015 debut. \u201cWe\u2019re completely different [from our idol selves],\u201d said Nayeon. \u201cIdols do have to use a lot of energy, and there is kind of a limit to how much a person can use their energy. We push all of that [away] while being an idol.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDuring our debut era, it was really busy,\u201d Sana shared. \u201cWhen people ask, \u2018Are you tired?\u2019 we\u2019ll say, \u2018Oh no, we\u2019re not tired.\u2019 \u2018Are you busy?\u2019 \u2018Oh, we\u2019re not busy.\u2019 Now I express myself better when I\u2019m tired. When I look back on it, I think, Did I really have to say the opposite of what I was feeling all these years?\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDuring concerts, I give my all,\u201d added Momo. \u201cBut when I come back down the stage, I [take it easy] and relax right after.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m trying to be more generous to myself,\u201d Jeongyeon chimed in. \u201cAlthough that\u2019s not always working, I\u2019m trying really hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA spectrum of public scrutiny bookended by overzealous fans and harsh critics also comes with the territory of international stardom, something the girls of TWICE know all too well. But that\u2019s where having nine members comes in handy, according to Jihyo, as it allows the bandmates to share the burden amongst themselves. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re really thankful [that we have] nine members,\u201d she explained. \u201cFor one person, one member can be their favorite and they might not like the rest, but because we push our team of nine together, the team vibes are really good. We\u2019re really thankful because of that. And because of that, we actually get a lot closer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTWICE recently scored its first-ever No. 1 entry on the\u00a0Billboard 200<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0With YOU-th<\/em>, which\u00a0debuted in the top spot<\/a>\u00a0earlier this month. The six-track EP features the songs \u201cI Got You,\u201d \u201cOne Spark,\u201d \u201cRush,\u201d \u201cNew New,\u201d \u201cBloom\u201d and \u201cYou Get Me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this year, the group also returned for one last show<\/a> in the U.S. for the Ready to Be Tour at Las Vegas\u2019 Allegiant Stadium, performing songs from their own discography as well as covers of Dua Lipa\u2019s\u00a0\u201cNew Rules\u201d\u00a0and Ariana Grande\u2019s\u00a0\u201c7 Rings.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
