Alicia Silverstone<\/a> is set to return to her Northern California roots this summer to mark the 30th anniversary of the film that catapulted her to stardom.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The San Mateo-raised actress will host a special screening of \u201cClueless\u201d<\/a> at the San Jose Civic on July 25. The event will feature a live onstage conversation and audience Q&A with Silverstone following the movie.<\/p>\n

Written and directed by Amy Heckerling and based loosely on the Jane Austen novel \u201cEmma,\u201d \u201cClueless\u201d became a defining teen comedy of the 1990s, turning Silverstone\u2019s portrayal of the well-meaning but oblivious Beverly Hills high schooler Cher Horowitz into a cultural icon.<\/p>\n

\u201cClueless\u201d was praised for its fashion, slang and satirical wit, and it remains a touchstone for fans decades later. It also included a breakout performance by Paul Rudd.<\/p>\n
