\"\"Recently I had the pleasure of leading a workshop to a group of women entrepreneurs for a program of the Michigan Women\u2019s Foundation<\/a> (that’s me above and to the right). The topic of discussion was one of my favorites\u2014delegation.<\/p>\n

I shared my insights with them\u2014that getting work done through others (i.e. delegation) can help ease the burden, but it takes deliberate time and attention to do it well. When I was finished presenting, I know these business leaders walked away feeling better about their abilities to delegate.<\/p>\n

I also love doing workshops because I invariably learn something from the participants. You see, these business leaders also provided me with some insights. In this case, it was very enlightening to learn about the challenges that business owners have in trying to balance it all.<\/p>\n

A few weeks ago I presented another workshop to women entrepreneurs. This time it was for Grand Rapids Opportunity for Women<\/a>\u00a0(below) and the topic was strategic planning. So often it\u2019s easy to fall into the trap of just getting work done without making sure there\u2019s a clear business vision, mission and goals.<\/p>\n

\"\"Engaging the workforce can be done more holistically when the team understands the overall direction they are headed and how their work will make a difference.<\/p>\n

Millenials, in particular, often have a high interest in knowing their work matters to society and the business bottom line. Strategic planning is that connection.<\/p>\n

Having the opportunity to work with business leaders on topics I am passionate about is both exciting and fulfilling. I know that their businesses are stronger because of the time we spent together.<\/p>\n
