In both cases , it must abandon the pure art . &#8221; Quote of the artist to speak the message of his work.<\/p>\n<p>George Grosz was born Georg Ehrenfried Gro\u00df July 26, 1893 in Berlin and died July 6, 1959 in Berlin , is a German painter who was an important member of the Dada movement and the left wing of the New Objectivity movement .<\/p>\n<p>Admitted in 1909 to the Royal Academy of Arts in Dresden ( Dresden Art Academy K\u00f6niglichen ) , in 1912 he entered the \u00c9cole des Beaux-Arts in Berlin ( Kunstgewerbeschule ), where he was a pupil of Emil Orlik ( 1870-1932 ) .<\/p>\n<p>Enlisted in the Army in 1914, he spent two years in a regiment of grenadiers before being reformed in May 1917. The official reason for this reform argue a sinus infection, although it remained some time in a military psychiatric hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Adhering to communist ideas Novembergruppe in 1918 and participating in the Spartacist uprising , Grosz was arrested in January 1919. He manages to escape with false identity papers. With Heartfield , he joined the German Communist Party (KPD) . He participates in Berlin politicized magazines like Der Ernst Blutige or Die Aktion . His anti-militarism and its commitment to proletarian art cause him trouble with the law : confiscated or banned Release conviction for insulting the imperial army, censorship collection of printed journals as &#8221; Gott mit Uns &#8221; ( 1920).<\/p>\n<p>Called &#8221; Marshal Propagandada &#8221; Grosz organized with Raoul Hausmann and Heartfield , the First International Dada Fair in Berlin, June 5, 1920 . Has practiced exaggeration and caricature shows with realism , the state of the world after the war. He borrows from the Futurists and Dadaists , dynamics and feverish representation of cities.<\/p>\n<p>Anti-Nazi , Grosz left Germany in 1932. Invited to teach art at the Art Students League of New York in 1933, he worked there intermittently until 1955. He became a citizen of the United States in 1938 .<\/p>\n<p>In 1950 , he opened an art school at home, while working for the Des Moines Art Center .
