The exceptional quality of the sculpture gives the impression of silky dress animals.<\/p>\n<p>They are carved in &#8220;the round&#8221; technique for seeing objects in all their forms.<\/p>\n<p>Dating from the Meiji era, the Japanese emperor of the late nineteenth century, these deer describe quite a time when Japan tipped into modernity. And opening to the West, with the creation of the School of Fine Arts, we saw its artists inspire new techniques.<\/p>\n<p>During the Meiji era, the artists produced sculptures and other decorative items for their new customers in Japan and abroad.
