Sports Related Injuries with Dr. Ramin Hazany

Today on MD-VOD, Dr. John Kennedy is joined by sports medicine and rehab specialist Dr. Ramin Hazany to learn about sports related injuries. Together they examine the cause of sports related injuries, who is at risk, the symptoms, how it’s diagnosed and available medications, treatments and therapies. They further discuss the consequences and the realities of living with sports related injuries, including insurance coverage and related costs.

In the U.S. about 30 million children and teens participate in some form of organized sports, leading to more than 3.5 million injuries each year.

All types of sports have a potential for injury, whether from the trauma of contact with other players or from overuse or misuse of a body part.

Dr. Hazany explains why going to a sports medicine specialist versus their family physician is important and the difference between the two specialities; gives tips for parents to help reduce the risk of their children getting hurt or having heat exhaustion; talks about the risks of not stretching before physical activities; explains the symptoms of ACL tears, concussions and spine injuries; and explains treatments, rehabilitation and recovery time for ligament damage.

So join us as we simplify sports related injuries and arm you with the tools and information you need to treat sports related injuries on yourself and those you love.
