The most common symptoms of breast cancer that you should look for are:
• A mass or lump in or near the breast or underarm area
• A change in the size, shape, or contour of the breast
• Blood-stained or clear fluid discharge from the nipple
• A change in the feel or appearance of the skin on the breast or nipple
• and a change in the shape or position of the nipple
Dr. Granzow points out that it is best to practice a weekly self-examination of the breasts. This way, you will be familiar with your breasts and be able to notice changes. Early detection is key, and Dr. John further emphasizes the importance of breast self-exams and mammograms when indicated. If changes do occur, you want to be able to discover them early so you can be better equipped to treat this disease.
