Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals was a pivotal benefit for the thousands if not millions of children who were brought to the United States. While it is not a solution for a more permanent status in the U.S. it definitely has been a turning point for a more stable and secure future. DACA provides recipients protection against a deportation not based on criminal claims or fraud against immigration officials. 

DACA recipients are given a work permit that would in turn help them obtain a valid social security number. Depending in which state you live in, you are able to obtain a valid drivers license and able to receive tax benefits from wages earned legally.

DACA recipients must remember to renew their DACA application 6 months prior to its expiration. Due to recent judicial decisions, DACA recipients are given the opportunity to apply for Advance Parole, which will allow them to travel abroad and return legally to the U.S. This could lead to the possibility of a future petition for an Adjustment of Status.
